Also enjoyed the “Boat Club” (think very large swish RSL Club and insert the word “Boat” instead of RSL, add water-front marina & now you’re getting the picture). Noted the marvellous foreshore area at Hervey Bay, at least 7km long, all bike tracks, trees, gardens, parks, beaches & so on. Someone thought ahead.
All things Patchwork & Quilting very big here at Hervey Bay, 2 shops full of inspiration, competing to have the most bolts of fabric, one boasts 5,000, the other 7,000, even Peter was impressed (I think).
Needing to push north, we headed next to Bundaburg. Managed to navigate the river down past the canefields & Bundy Rum distillery & made it to the city to find it was mostly shut – due to the Show Day Holiday. Yours truly was feeling a bit poorly, & Peter knew she wasn’t faking it, when unable to make it out to the poultry exhibition at the local show. Public Transport appeared to be non-existant, as were taxi’s sadly. We started to trek to the Botanic Gardens, but had to turn back as it was too far from the city unfortunately.
Next stop . . . Pancake Creek (??)
Hi Kaylee. Have been following your journey with wonder and lots of wows! You should be a writer for a travel journal Kaylee…it’s been a real interesting read and a bit of a laugh too. We are full on into winter here. Lots of rain, rain, and more rain…but I was able to sneak out for a walk around the bay and it was lovely. There had been lots of fish around the jetty until a day or so ago. Now the water is brown and messy. Oyster shells, starfish (the pesty ones) sticks and more shells are washed up on the boat ramp. It was a bit rough and windy a coupla nights ago. Any way enjoy the lovely warm sunshine and beautiful scenery and I will continue to follow your blogs and dream of tropicana!
